I HAVE PRACTICED VEDIC MEDITATION FOR 6 MONTHS NOW
IT HAS MADE ME MORE CALM, UNDERSTANDING, THOUGHTFUL AND CONSIDERED
IT HAS ALLOWED ME TO SLEEP BETTER AND BE PRESENT IN SITUATIONS I HAVE ORDINARILY EXPERIENCED,
AND ONLY CONSIDERED ON REFLECTION.
BUT MORE THAN ANYTHING
THE PRACTICE OF MEDITATION HAS GIVEN ME A WORD FOR MANY MOMENTS IN MY LIFE I HAVE LONG VALUED
SANSKRIT IS THE PRIMARY LANGUAGE OF HINDUISM
AND IT SOMEHOW IS ABLE TO DEFINE SOME OF THE MOMENTS IN LIFE
THAT MAKE MY SKIN MOVE, BUT UP UNTIL NOW HAVE HAD NO LANGUAGE BASED EXPLANATION
THREE IN PARTICULAR
THEY ARE UNIVERSAL MOMENTS THAT HAPPEN TO EVERY HUMAN,
ALL OVER THE WORLD
THEY ARE NOT SPECIFIC TO LOCATION, OR RACE, OR GENDER
OR EVEN AGE
THEY ARE MOMENTS WHEN I BECOME HYPER AWARE
OF THE CHANGE OF SEASON
OF MY BREATH MOVING IN AND OUT
OF THE STILLNESS, OR THE MOVEMENT OF THE BREEZE
OF MY HEART BEAT
AND OF ALL THE THINGS IN MY LIFE THAT ARE EITHER WEIGHING ME DOWN
OR LIFTING ME HIGH
THEY ARE MOMENTS IN WHICH I AM CONSCIOUS
BRIHMA MAHURT is the hour of Brahimi, the time the black of the sky becomes grey before the blue of the morning.
SANDIHA is the time when it is neither night or day
NARASWAN describes the breeze that gently moves across the earth as the sunrises
I LOVE EARLY MORNINGS
WHEN IT FEELS LIKE THE REST OF THE WORLD
IS STILL FAST ASLEEP AND YOU'RE THE ONLY ONE WHO'S AWAKE
AND EVERYTHING FEELS LIKE IT ISN'T REALLY REAL
AND YOU KIND OF FORGET ALL YOUR PROBLEMS, OR REALISE THAT
IN FACT THEY ARE NOT PROBLEMS AT ALL.
BECAUSE FOR RIGHT NOW
ITS JUST YOU, THE WORLD AND THE SUNRISE.
